If you have questions about your rights at work, the best person you can talk to is your local steward or executive. You will know the specific details of your agreement. These are not considered “legal” copies of contracts/agreements. If you need additional information or a signed copy, send an email or call Labour Relations at 403-268-2236. After all, we have an individual responsibility to take care of ourselves and a collective responsibility to take care of each other. Please follow the health guidelines set by our experts – and together we will get through it! All CUPE members work under the protection of a contract called a collective agreement. Your local union negotiates the terms of the agreement. Elected local union leaders also work with the employer to resolve issues in the workplace. Our agreement also provided for early access to professional expense reimbursement applications 2020/2021 and deferral options for academics who were on research and scholarship leave (RSL) or who had planned an RSL from July.
We will meet again with the faculty association in the fall to discuss further adjustments that may be needed to help academic staff cope with the pandemic. It is important to know that the existing faculty guidelines are being revised, although no substantial changes to the criteria are currently being made. The existing faculty guidelines relate to previous collective agreements and APT and GPC manuals that are no longer in force. Most of these provisions are now included in the GFC manual. In addition, existing faculty guidelines relate to tenure, promotion and evaluation processes and committees, which have since been amended and codified in the current collective agreement. We are working hard to implement the increase as quickly as possible. Given the complexity of retroactive salary processing, this will take some time and we want to ensure accuracy. We assume that all legitimate scientific collaborators will receive their retro-remuneration during the first payment period in October 2020. The updated A and B calendars of the collective agreement are published on our website here. If you have any questions about this, please contact your hr Academic Advisor or email@example.com. I would like to thank you once again for all that you are doing in these difficult times. It was remarkable to see what has been achieved as a collective, despite all the problems we are all going through.
I`m amazed – and tired! – on a daily basis. I couldn`t imagine experiencing this with a better group of people – thank you! If you would like a hard copy of your collective agreement, please speak to your steward. If you don`t know who your steward is or how to reach your contact, contact the CUPE office near you. As mentioned above, IT has bulk purchased devices such as webcams and headsets, which can now be purchased with the PER (Professional Expense Reimbursement) program. . . .
