Hello all, my name is Michael strobel or as many know of me in the OCR (obstacle course racing) community “WildBoy Strobe”. I am the product of Portsmouth, Virginia and currently live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I spent a majority of my formative years playing baseball and competed at the collegiate baseball level. After graduating college I began working in the medical field and found my passion in OCR. After years of tireless training I’ve had success on the age group level and plan on working to compete consistently on the elite level.

Rachel Parker is a multi-disciplinary cyclist hailing from the Bay Area with roots in New York. She grew up swimming competitively, commuting via bicycle, and in recent years shifted her passion into adventure cycling. She started racing bikes in 2021 after a coastal bike tour when she realized her strength in 100m butterfly could translate directly from the pool to the road.

First introduced to criterium racing as a spectator, she loved the explosive power and strategy the sport showcased. She pushed past her fears of crashing while taking corners at top speeds, and asserted herself as a dominant rider in the peloton. She found an intuitive flow in the sport, but also felt a dissonance in the demographics of each race she attended.

Her first season started with progressing in local criterium races throughout Northern California, to moving up in the racing categories at regional and national level crits. After discovering gravel racing, she unlocked even more joy in the challenge of endurance, learned patience and better bike handling skills, and found solace in the wildness of off-roading. Rachel has a relentless appetite to win, and a strong focus on developing her racecraft to set herself up for a long and successful career of adventure racing. She believes strongly in the power of diaphragmatic breathing, positive affirmations, and most importantly, teamwork. Rachel is proud to be an athlete with Team Onyx.

I’m a single mother of 2, an avid obstacle course racer, and cycling enthusiast from Compton CA. I started
trail running to cope with bipolar depression and PTSD. Which led me to OCR and my love of overcoming obstacles. I’ve competed in multiple OCR events including American Ninja Warrior. I enjoy a good challenge, now I’m embarking on true endurance sports to
help break down barriers, get rid of the stereotypes and inspire more black people to get outdoors & step outside of their comfort zones.

Blessings Love and Lights! My name is Sang Sukie Gayle. I’m a certified holistic health coach, fitness and yoga advocate.

After having my three lovely children I decided to take my love for wellness and health to another level. Becoming a mom changed everything and I saw where I was loosing a part of ME. I decided to be a roll model not only for my kids but to the moms who was seeking the best of both worlds; working out, racing and being there for their family. I wanted to show them it was achievable. I ran and completed over 25 half-marathons and marathons from the time I turned 34 up until the age of 40.
I faced another life challenge when I turned 40. I took my first big adventure step of my life, I filed for divorce from an abusive marriage. After 12 years of marriage I had to redefine my life and heal mentally, physically and emotionally. It took me close to 4 years to finalize my divorce and I stopped racing completely. I was extremely depressed and never thought I would race again. Then adventure racing landed in my lap Nov. 2020 and I was hooked! The spark was ignited and I made a commitment to myself to start on a new journey against all odds and sign up for my first adventure race in 2021.

I have now completed 2 and placed 3rd in both races.

Wilo Nater was born in Brooklyn, NY, currently resides in Rock Hill, SC.

Wilo played an array of sports throughout his childhood till joining the military. During his 30 years of service, he continued his love for sports participating on many intramural teams. It is during his time in the military where he also developed a stronger passion for competition and physical and mental challenges. He combined the skills he acquired as an infantryman to pursue a more stimulating level of challenges participating in several multidisciplinary races. Wilo took this desire with him upon his retirement and utilizes these same passions in his nonprofit as an educator and mentor to black youth. When he’s not training or racing you’ll find Wilo out playing with his Sun (son) Neron, traveling, reading, and in the kitchen cooking plant-based meals with his lady.

I grew up in LA going on hikes and playing sports with my family and friends, where I found my love of the outdoors and competition. I ran cross country in college and am now a youth running coach for the Oakland Cubs in Oakland, CA. When I’m not coaching or competing, I am teaching college and high school students about health, nutrition, and kinesiology. I love physical activity and competing, and am always looking for ways to put my body to the test. I have experience running, boxing, and doing obstacle races and am excited to begin adventure racing.

Tonni Wells

Fitness Teacher, Life Coach, Fitness Trainer & Conditioning Specialist to Professional Athletes, Celebrities and Royalty, Urban Microfarmer, Farm Business Owner and Mother. These are all daily hats that Tonni Wells-Ratcliff wears. However, the hat she has worn the longest is Athlete.

Being the eldest hailing from a family of highly competitive athletes, Tonni began running at the age of 5 to combat serious life threatening asthma. Having the opportunity to try out and selected by the Head Coach of an elite Travel Track and Field Team in Richmond VA is where Tonni found her stride. Having the opportunity to be named and added to the Virginia High School Athletic Hall of Fame and continuing on her Track and Cross Country career at the collegiate level and eventually going on to be part of a rare collegiate level team running dynasty of winning the trifecta of Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor National Championships, all 4 years of College.

Once moving to California in 2003 “running” behind her then 3 year olds son and his career of an award winning model and actor on the big and small screen is where Tonni found the mountains during his long filming hours and they haven’t stopped calling. Now being a long time seasoned mountain Ultrarunner, Tonni wanted to combine the love of running, camping, backpacking, climbing, swimming, biking and more and pour it into a new challenge of Adventure Racing. Joining Team Onyx as the fun loving wild and crazy Jill of all Trades, to hopefully the start on a next chapter with like-minded competitive, athletic and fun folks who are out to quench more than the thirst of competition, but life itself!

Fun Family Fact: Be sure to catch an episode or 2 of this current Season 32 of the Amazing Race on CBS, where Tonni’s younger sister Kellie Wells- Brinkley, 2012 100M Hurdle Olympic Medalist can be seen and is currently competing. Hey she even stated her running career started “chasing” behind older sis Tonni!

At three years old I had my father take off the training wheels and went on to complete my first 100-mile bike ride at age nine.

Beginning with OCR back in 2011, I eventually found my way to ultra running events after pushing my limits in personal ultra runs and 100+ mile bike rides.

As a wilderness guide, I have led multiple 20-day backcountry expeditions, as well as international expeditions, and long-term wilderness therapy programming.

Intense challenge is fuel to my fire and fitness is a personal lifelong pursuit, so I push my edge running, rock climbing, mountaineering, cycling, swimming, and any other way I can get moving hard in the outdoors.

Endure. Through the fog.
